Inverness South Anglers Association (ISAA)

ISAA’s mandate is to further in all ways possible the conservation, propagation, and sustainment of salmon, trout, striped bass and other recreational fisheries in the watersheds that we that we steward on behalf of the contiguous communities of Judique, Port Hood, Mabou and Inverness, aka Inverness (County) South.

Since its inception thirteen years ago, ISAA’s methods and work products have proven environmentally durable, economically sustainable and worthy of emulation.

ISAA is now a recognized leader in community driven watershed stewardship affairs.  What we have achieved to date and what we might achieve in future is wholly dependent upon the cash resources provided by our funding partners and the energy and commitment of our volunteers.

Our work benefits our patron communities’ development efforts by providing environmental remediation and enhancement services, creating economic opportunities to build upon, and local engagement in active lifestyle pursuits.

Last year, 2016, was a breakthrough year for ISAA.  The development of recreational fisheries in our watersheds was recognized by Tourism Nova Scotia and is being promoted as one of the major ecotourism attractions of the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail.  The Trail is being promoted worldwide as one of five new provincial tourism initiatives.  Our communities are now poised to reap economic benefits from our work and the resulting tax revenues will begin paying back the government funds that were entrusted to us to do the work.
