L’sitkuk / Bear River First Nation

“We, the people of Bear River First Nation, will work towards healing our minds, bodies, spirits, and environment.”

In Kespukwitk (southwest Nova Scotia), Mi’kmaq continue to have a direct relationship with the lands and waters to sustain for their families and communities. The BRFN Band Council and community have been active in ecological restoration and monitoring for over three decades in order to continue sharing cultural and ecological knowledge with the next generations and to provide food, materials and medicine to the people.
