Black Brook Restoration

Black Brook Restoration

Project work Continuing restoration efforts on Black Brook will include debris block removal and braiding consolidation, instream structures (15-20 digger logs) to improve thalwag definition and pool depths Black Brook has several road crossings, passes through a historically forested area, a culvert on Black Brook also has a high outflow drop, which excludes some fish from the upstream portion of the brook. This will be assessed in detail to determine is fish passage remediation is feasible e.g. installation of a chute and wooden weir.  Stream assessments in  Trout Brook and/ or Tom’s Brook will be conducted for restoration potential. Inspection of  streams where restoration was completed 10 years ago or more will be done to determine whether there is a need for repairs or additional work.
